Four Watches and Counting: Why The Sopranos Is the Most Rewatchable TV Show Ever
And a look at the four most rewatchable episodes
It’s thirteen years since I first sat down to watch the pilot episode of The Sopranos. If you’d told me I’d go on to watch the series in its entirety four times, and be so enamoured by David Chase’s masterpiece that I would eventually decide to write this article — I would have accused you of being off your rocker.
I used to channel-hop quite frequently as a kid, desperately searching for something that could hold my attention for more than a couple of minutes. Maybe nostalgia is playing tricks on my mind, or maybe the 12-year-old version of me was less fussy, but I remember television being a lot more entertaining back then.
A particular episode of The Sopranos caught my attention during one of those channel hopping frenzies — so much so that I put the remote down and watched intently.
On my screen was Tony Soprano’s son. He held a cinder block on his lap, and it was tied to his ankle as he sat at the edge of the Soprano family swimming pool.
Immediately, I was drawn in. I wanted to see where this was going, and even with no prior knowledge — I was on the edge of my seat.
